IOTA has surged significantly since April lows, driven by excitement surrounding the launch of its Rebased mainnet upgrade, which officially went live today. As traders assess whether this bullish momentum can continue, the focus shifts to technical indicators and the broader market response to the upgrade.
Rebased Mainnet Launch: A New Era for IOTA
The IOTA Foundation rolled out its Rebased mainnet upgrade on May 5, transitioning from the Stardust framework to a next-generation decentralized network. The upgrade brings major enhancements, including support for up to 150 validators, the ability to process 50,000 transactions per second, staking rewards of 10–15% APY, and the introduction of the Move Virtual Machine for Layer-1 smart contracts.
It's official – the IOTA Mainnet is now officially launched and Rebased.

For IOTA holders, the upgrade is seamless — no token migration is required. However, users must switch to the new IOTA wallet and update their Ledger app, as the older Firefly wallet is no longer supported. To mark the occasion, IOTA will host a post-launch X-space to engage the community and answer key questions.

Technical Uncertainty Clouds Price Momentum
While the price spike has been impressive, IOTA now faces significant resistance on the charts. The $0.145 support level — a historical anchor since March 2020 — remains intact, but the token failed to decisively break its long-term descending resistance after hitting $0.70.
The daily chart shows a breakout from a short-term descending trend line, but the recent pullback suggests traders are cautious. The RSI sits neutrally at 50, and the MACD remains negative, offering no clear bullish confirmation.
Wave analysis points to two possible outcomes: a bearish correction that could drag prices back to $0.145, or a bullish continuation if IOTA holds above the $0.172 pivot level. A drop below this mark could invalidate bullish predictions and trigger further downside.
As the Rebased mainnet takes effect, IOTA’s future price action hinges on whether the project can convert its technical upgrades into sustained market confidence.
