VeChain has officially activated the first grant under its upgraded VeBetter Grants Program 3.0, inviting community participation in selecting impactful sustainability projects. The initial proposal under review, ReUse, aims to promote eco-conscious behavior in the secondhand fashion market and is seeking a $25,000 grant to launch and partner with retail entities.

ReUse: Gamifying Sustainability Through Secondhand Fashion

The ReUse app incentivizes sustainable shopping by rewarding users who purchase secondhand clothing. Buyers can upload proof of purchases—receipts and photos—from platforms like Vinted or local thrift stores and receive B3TR tokens. These tokens allow users to track environmental metrics such as carbon emissions reduced and textile waste saved, while also participating in governance using VOT3 tokens on VeBetterDAO.

The ReUse team highlights the fashion industry’s significant carbon footprint—accounting for 10% of global emissions—and identifies key challenges in the secondhand market such as lack of consumer incentives, environmental tracking, and a unified rewards system. With 533 wallets already voting and 65.4% in favor, the project is gaining traction, though quorum has yet to be met.

VeBetter Grant Tracks: X-to-Earn and Ecosystem Infrastructure

The VeBetter Grants Program is structured into two core categories:

  • X-to-Earn Grants, offering up to $30,000 in B3TR tokens, are focused on apps that reward users for sustainable actions.
  • Ecosystem Infrastructure Grants support developers and builders working on tools and scalability solutions, with funding up to $50,000.

All grant recipients retain 100% ownership of their projects and benefit from milestone-based funding, technical guidance, and promotional support from the VeChain Foundation.

Transparent Application and Community Governance

The application process is transparent, featuring six structured steps—from online submission and initial review to community voting and final funding. VeChain emphasizes that priority will be given to proposals aligned with VeBetterDAO’s goals and the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those with broad, Web2-ready potential.

With its enhanced grants system and a clear push toward real-world environmental impact, VeChain is reinforcing its commitment to sustainability and community-led innovation.
