World Liberty Financial (WLFI) Expands Crypto Holdings, But Token Sale Faces Slow Progress

World Liberty Financial (WLFI) continues to make significant moves in the cryptocurrency space, stacking investments after surpassing its initial $300 million token sale target. The project recently made waves by increasing its Tron (TRX) holdings to a noteworthy $7.5 million, a strategic purchase that signals the team’s commitment to expanding its digital asset portfolio.

According to on-chain analytics platform Arkham Intelligence, WLFI added 10.8 million TRX, valued at $2.62 million, bringing its total TRX holdings to $7.5 million. This move aligns with the growing support for WLFI from notable crypto figures, including Tron founder Justin Sun, who is one of the project’s largest investors. Sun previously made a $30 million purchase of 2 billion WLFI tokens in November 2024 and doubled his investment shortly after, bringing his total stake to $75 million.

Strategic Expansion and Increased Token Sale

WLFI’s aggressive strategy has extended its token sale by an additional 5 billion tokens, increasing the price per token from $0.015 to $0.05. The project has successfully sold 2.52 billion tokens, raising $126 million in the process. The WLFI sale, initially slow, gained momentum following the involvement of Trump-backed figures and rising interest in Donald Trump-themed meme coins.

In addition to the token sale, WLFI recently teased a collaboration with Ethena, focusing on yield-bearing stablecoin integration. This announcement could play a pivotal role in boosting the platform’s credibility, especially with its integration of decentralized finance (DeFi) features like lending and borrowing.

Sun’s Influence and the Road Ahead

Justin Sun’s involvement in WLFI not only highlights the project’s growing appeal but also triggers a revenue-sharing clause within the WLFI protocol, marking a new phase for the initiative. As WLFI continues its strategic moves, the project is set to deploy an Aave v3 instance, offering decentralized financial services such as lending and borrowing with stablecoins like USDT and ETH.

Despite skepticism surrounding WLFI’s long-term potential, the recent influx of investments and strategic partnerships could give it the momentum needed to make its mark in the competitive DeFi and crypto markets.
