Shocking Video Of Binance Executive In Nigerian Detention Sparks Global Outcry – Calls For Release Intensify As Health Deteriorates After 6 Months

A newly surfaced video showing the deteriorating health of Tigran Gambaryan, Binance’s head of crime compliance, has sparked widespread outrage and renewed demands for his release. Gambaryan, who has been held in Nigeria for over six months, was recently seen struggling with severe health issues while being denied crucial medical care.

The video, shared by Binance CEO Richard Teng on September 3, depicts Gambaryan’s distressing condition in custody. In the footage, Gambaryan is shown struggling to walk with just one crutch and pleading for access to a wheelchair, which he is denied by the guard. This video has intensified calls for Gambaryan’s immediate release, as his health continues to worsen.

Gambaryan’s trial, initially set for a later date, was unexpectedly moved up to September 2. Shortly after his court appearance, the disturbing video emerged, prompting Teng to publicly demand Gambaryan’s release. Teng’s post on X (formerly Twitter) highlighted the dire circumstances surrounding Gambaryan’s imprisonment and the urgent need for his freedom.

The Binance executive’s detention is linked to alleged financial crimes involving $34 million related to the exchange’s operations in Nigeria. Despite the serious nature of the charges, Gambaryan’s defense has highlighted the deteriorating state of his health as a critical concern. His attorney filed a new motion for bail during the trial, citing medical records that indicate Gambaryan requires surgery.

However, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Nigeria’s regulatory body overseeing the case, opposed the bail motion. The EFCC’s lawyers argued that Gambaryan’s health is not as grave as claimed, despite evidence suggesting otherwise. The next hearing is scheduled for September 4, when the judge will decide on the bail request.

Gambaryan’s family has voiced alarm over his worsening condition, alleging that his health problems are a direct result of prolonged medical negligence. They claim that the video evidence shows Gambaryan lacking access to necessary medical equipment and proper care.

The situation has drawn significant attention from the international community, with many advocating for Gambaryan’s immediate release and improved conditions while his legal battle continues. The outcome of the upcoming hearing could prove pivotal not only for Gambaryan’s future but also for the broader discussion on human rights and fair treatment in legal proceedings.

As the legal and humanitarian concerns surrounding Gambaryan’s case escalate, the global spotlight remains on Nigeria’s handling of this high-profile case and the pressing need for justice and compassion.
