Pi Network is excited to announce the launch of Pi Node Version 0.5.0, a significant update that brings the platform one step closer to the long-awaited Mainnet blockchain. This update is essential in preparing Pi Nodes to transition smoothly to the Mainnet when it becomes available, marking a major milestone for the decentralized Pi ecosystem.
Transition to Testnet2 for Pi Nodes
With Version 0.5.0, Pi Nodes will now begin operating on the Testnet2 blockchain. This new Testnet environment is specifically designed to test the process of switching between blockchains, which is crucial for ensuring a seamless transition to the Mainnet in the future. Testnet2 offers a more compatible and comparable experience to what Nodes will face on the Mainnet blockchain, enabling Pi Network to refine and perfect the transition process before the official launch.
For the time being, Pi Nodes can continue to use the original Testnet, though it will soon be retired for Node operations. This will allow future resets of Testnet2 that only affect Nodes, while Pioneers and Pi app developers can continue using the original Testnet without any interruptions. No action is required from Pi app developers at this time, and the stability and performance of Pi apps will remain unchanged.
