Palestine Gets BRICS Nod – Set To Attend 2024 Kazan Summit

In a significant geopolitical development, the BRICS alliance is set to invite Palestine to its upcoming summit in October, marking a potential turning point in the Middle East conflict. The 16th edition of the summit, scheduled for October 22-24 in the Kazan region of Russia, will be the first to feature the expanded nine-member bloc.

Palestine’s inclusion in the high-level talks comes as a testament to the growing influence of the BRICS nations on the global stage. The decision to invite the Middle Eastern state is seen as a clear signal of support for Palestinian rights and a challenge to the status quo in the region.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has expressed gratitude for the invitation, highlighting the strong ties between Palestine and the BRICS member states. “We have certainly also discussed bilateral relations because we enjoy a very long-standing strategic relationship with Russia,” Abbas stated. He further emphasized the friendly relations between Palestine and the BRICS nations, suggesting that the upcoming summit will provide a crucial platform to address pressing issues.

With Israel and Palestine locked in a decades-long conflict that escalated dramatically following the October 2023 attacks, the BRICS summit offers a unique opportunity for Palestine to garner international attention and support. The humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, exacerbated by the ongoing conflict, is expected to be a central focus of Palestine’s agenda.

Iran, a BRICS member, has actively supported Palestine in its struggle against Israel, further solidifying the bloc’s position on the issue. As the United States and other Western allies continue to back Israel, the BRICS nations have emerged as key players in the quest for a peaceful resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The inclusion of Palestine in the BRICS summit is a bold move that could reshape the geopolitical landscape of the Middle East. The world will be watching closely as Palestine takes center stage at this high-profile event.
