  • IOTA wallets jumped from 226K to over 600K in three months, fueled by fan tokens and cricket NFTs.
  • Network upgrades boosted speed to 50,000 TPS and expanded developer tools.
  • Analysts see potential for IOTA to rival Chiliz’s 2.5M wallets within months.

IOTA has seen a staggering rise in account numbers, leaping from 226,000 to over 600,000 in just three months. CNF reported 437,000 wallets as of August 4, but the network added over 160,000 more in just days. Much of this momentum is tied to e-sports fan tokens, which are attracting new users at record speed.

Salima, an active IOTA community supporter, noted on X that wallet growth is “going through the roof” due to this fan token surge. The trend follows major NFT launches in Pakistan’s cricket scene, spearheaded by AyLab’s CricketFly — the first Play2Win Web3 cricket game issuing thousands of NFTs per minute on IOTA without technical issues.

NFTs and Fan Tokens Propel Network Expansion

Each CricketFly NFT series contains 100,000 unique items, each tied to a separate wallet. With more collections in the pipeline, projections suggest over 2 million NFTs — and wallets — could be reached within two and a half months. This pace could see IOTA surpass Chiliz, a blockchain dedicated to fan tokens, which currently holds around 2.5 million wallets.

Remarkably, this fan token success was unplanned, underscoring IOTA’s adaptability. “If this happens here… imagine other verticals. IOTA Rebased is built for everything,” Salima said.

Network Upgrades Fuel Scalability and Adoption

IOTA’s technical upgrades have been pivotal to this growth. The recent rebase upgrade introduced permissionless delegated proof-of-stake with up to 150 validators, moving closer to full decentralization. Transaction throughput now exceeds 50,000 TPS, enabling use cases from enterprise IoT microtransactions to advanced DeFi.

Additional features — including MoveVM smart contracts, native staking, and robust tokenization support — have made IOTA an attractive platform for developers and large-scale integrations.
