Kenya is rapidly becoming a blockchain innovation hub in Africa, and IOTA is seizing the opportunity to contribute significantly to this growing ecosystem. In an exciting development, IOTA has announced it will co-host the IOTA East Africa Web3 Innovation Summit with TradeMark Africa on May 30, 2025, in Nairobi, Kenya.

This one-day event aims to bring together developers, policymakers, Web3 builders, and entrepreneurs focused on logistics, sustainability, and trade. With a targeted attendance of 80-100 participants, the summit will offer an interactive platform for exploring new tools, grants, and digital public infrastructure in the rapidly evolving Web3 landscape.
The Purpose Behind the Summit
IOTA’s initiative comes as part of its mission to showcase how its innovative blockchain technology can address critical challenges in trade, logistics, and digital infrastructure. As part of the summit, local developers will have the chance to build on the IOTA network’s MoveVM, a key tool for enhancing blockchain-based applications.
The event will also feature a live preview of the MENA edition of Moveathon, highlighting IOTA’s global commitment to fostering blockchain innovation. Attendees can look forward to presentations on IOTA’s Trade Worldwide Information Network (TWIN), a platform designed to enable secure and instant data sharing across global supply chains.
IOTA’s Continued Engagement with Kenya’s Blockchain Ecosystem
IOTA’s collaboration with Kenya has been instrumental in improving supply chain management, particularly in mitigating fraud and inefficiencies. The Trade Logistics Information Pipeline (TLIP), launched in 2020, has made significant strides in securing and verifying supply chain documents, ensuring smooth and transparent operations.
The summit will offer hands-on workshops and networking opportunities with peers, mentors, and decision-makers, enabling participants to explore IOTA’s Business Innovation Grant Program, among other initiatives.
