- 60 million ENA tokens were staked, reducing circulating liquid supply.
- Exchange outflows continue to indicate long-term accumulation despite weak price action.
- Bearish technical signals and negative funding rates keep near-term upside uncertain.
A major Ethena (ENA) investor has reinforced the long-term investment narrative after staking 60 million ENA tokens worth roughly $4.73 million shortly after purchasing them through Coinbase Prime. The move immediately caught the attention of traders because it removed nearly 0.63% of the token’s circulating supply from the open market.
Large staking transactions are often viewed as a sign of confidence, particularly when they follow institutional purchases. While the reduced liquid supply could support prices over time, ENA continues to trade under pressure as technical indicators and derivatives data point to cautious market sentiment.
Whale Staking Tightens Available ENA Supply
The decision to lock up 60 million ENA tokens reduced the number of coins available for immediate trading. Such actions are generally associated with investors expecting long-term appreciation rather than seeking quick profits.
The whale’s purchase through Coinbase Prime, a platform widely used by institutional investors, further strengthened the accumulation story surrounding ENA. Even so, the broader market has yet to reward the move with a meaningful price rally.
Investors appear to be balancing the positive impact of shrinking supply against lingering uncertainty across the crypto market.
Exchange Outflows Continue to Support the Bullish Case
On-chain data also points to a steady decline in exchange balances. Recent spot netflows remained negative, with approximately $455,650 worth of ENA leaving exchanges over the latest reporting period.
Persistent exchange outflows often indicate that investors are moving assets into private wallets or staking platforms instead of preparing to sell. This trend typically reduces potential selling pressure and creates a healthier supply-demand balance.
However, despite the continued reduction in exchange supply, buyers have not yet generated enough momentum to reverse the recent decline. The disconnect suggests that demand remains relatively subdued even as circulating liquidity tightens.
Derivatives and Technical Signals Remain Cautious

While on-chain metrics lean constructive, derivatives traders have become more defensive. ENA’s Open Interest-weighted funding rate recently slipped into negative territory, signaling a modest increase in bearish positioning within perpetual futures markets.
At the same time, ENA has fallen below its ascending price channel, placing key support around $0.0768 under pressure. Technical indicators have also weakened, with the MACD producing a bearish crossover that reflects fading buying momentum.
If buyers successfully defend current support, ENA could attempt a recovery toward the $0.0900 resistance level. Failure to hold above $0.0768, however, could expose the token to a deeper decline toward $0.0700.

Ethena’s latest whale staking event highlights growing long-term confidence from large investors while continued exchange outflows point to a tightening supply picture. Nevertheless, cautious derivatives positioning and weakening technical momentum suggest the market is waiting for stronger buying interest before confirming a sustained recovery. For now, ENA remains caught between encouraging accumulation signals and short-term bearish pressure.
