Solana Hit 68.1M Monthly Active Addresses, 5x More Than Bitcoin and 8x More Than Ethereum

Solana

Despite a considerable double-digit drop from a record set in late 2024, Solana’s network activity is still far above that of any other major blockchain and even close to that of all major blockchains combined.

According to data presented by Bestwallet.com, Solana ended 2025 with 68.1 million monthly active addresses, five times more than Bitcoin and eight times more than Ethereum. Here is how other major blockchains ranked compared to SOL.

Solana Counts Just 3% Less Monthly Active Users than All Other Major Blockchains Combined

Solana`s journey over the past few years has been quite dramatic. The coin started from less than a dollar in 2020, then soared to over $200 amid the 2021 crypto bull market, just to plunge by more than 95% during the 2022 crypto winter. Stil, growing interest in blockchain technology and improvements in Solana’s ecosystem brought it back into the spotlight, helping SOL to end 2023 with an impressive 377% gain, followed by another 105% increase in 2024. While 2025 brought only a modest 3% price growth, Solana`s network activity remained high, especially compared to other major blockchains.

After reaching an all-time high of over 176 million monthly active addresses, Solana`s network activity has been falling throughout 2025, with April, May, and November as the only exceptions. Despite that, SOL ended the year with 68.1 million monthly active addresses, far more than any other major blockchain and nearly as many as all other blockchains combined.

In comparison, Bitcoin hit 12.5 million active addresses in December, five times fewer than Solana. Ethereum stood even more behind, with eight times fewer active addresses, or 7.9 million. TRON and BNB showed the smallest gaps, with 15.8 million and 28.6 million monthly active addresses, respectively, or 4 times and 2 times fewer than Solana. The difference was the largest compared with XRP and Dogecoin, which hit around 440,000 and 810,000 monthly active users, or 154 times and 83 times fewer than Solana. Even more shockingly, the Solana blockchain alone recorded only 3% less monthly active addresses than all other major blockchains combined.

Solana Tops in Monthly Active Addresses, but BNB Blockchain Saw the Biggest YoY Growth

And while Solana alone nearly beats all other major blockchains combined, the story looks different when it comes to year-over-year growth in network activity. Even with 68.1 million monthly active addresses, SOL activity dropped 56% year-over-year, down from 157.1 million in December 2024. Three other major blockchains suffered similar double-digit drops.

Statistics show XRP’s network activity fell by 51% over the past year, while DOGE and TON reported 46% and 67% declines, respectively. On the other hand, Bitcoin’s monthly active addresses increased by 18%, Ethereum’s by roughly 5%, and TRX’s by more than 18%. Among all major blockchains, BNB saw the biggest year-over-year increase, surging 163% to 28.6 million in December.
