  • IOTA now connects to 150+ blockchains through LayerZero and Stargate.
  • The upgrade enables OFTs, tokenization, identity protocols, and cross-chain liquidity.
  • IOTA positions itself as a core infrastructure layer for global Web3 commerce.

IOTA has taken a decisive step toward full cross-chain connectivity with the rollout of Stargate as its new access layer and a deep integration with LayerZero, the leading interoperability messaging protocol. The upgrade positions IOTA for a new era of multi-network asset transfers, global liquidity access, and large-scale tokenization.

Stargate Becomes IOTA’s Bridge to 150 Networks

With Stargate now live on the IOTA mainnet, the network can seamlessly move Omnichain Fungible Tokens (OFTs) and other on-chain assets between IOTA and dozens of external ecosystems. Through LayerZero, Stargate connects IOTA to more than 150 blockchains and enables smooth transfers for over 500 supported assets, a major expansion of IOTA’s reach.

This upgrade unlocks cross-chain flows for tokens, data, and other forms of digital value—making interoperability a core function of the IOTA protocol rather than an add-on. For users and developers, it means new paths into liquidity, broader markets, and access to high-volume networks handling over $120 billion in transaction activity.

A Foundation for Tokenization, Identity, and Real-World Use Cases

IOTA’s leadership frames the integration as a pivotal moment in the network’s evolution. Foundation co-founder Dominik Schiener called it a “transformative milestone,” noting that seamless digital asset movement and real-world tokenization will become increasingly central to IOTA’s long-term mission.

Beyond asset transfers, the upgrade lays essential groundwork for stablecoin inflows, identity and notarization frameworks, and enterprise-grade protocols. With LayerZero powering the connectivity and Stargate acting as the access layer, the IOTA mainnet is now positioned to support complex, multi-chain applications that require trustless communication across diverse networks.

Paving the Way for a Fully Interoperable Blockchain Architecture

The combined rollout marks the beginning of IOTA’s next development phase—one focused on interoperability, liquidity, and mainstream accessibility. The network’s adoption of LayerZero also makes it one of the earliest Move VM-focused ecosystems to embrace omnichain standards.

This foundation is expected to accelerate IOTA’s ambitions in global trade, supply-chain finance, tokenization frameworks, and cross-chain financial infrastructure. Developers gain a more connected architecture, while users benefit from broader access to digital assets and cross-network functionality.

The integration of LayerZero and the launch of Stargate signal a major shift in IOTA’s trajectory. With multi-network interoperability now built directly into its core, IOTA is positioning itself as a foundational layer for cross-chain commerce, decentralized identity, and next-generation Web3 applications.
