South Korea’s leading crypto exchange, Bithumb, announced a temporary suspension of Filecoin (FIL) deposits and withdrawals starting September 24, 2025, at 6:00 PM KST. The move comes as Filecoin undergoes a network upgrade designed to enhance its stability and performance. Bithumb emphasized that the suspension is temporary and services will resume once the upgrade is successfully completed.

Network Upgrade Scheduled for September 25

According to Bithumb, the upgrade is set to occur at block height 5,348,280 Epoch, expected on September 25, 2025, at 8:00 AM KST, though the timing may vary depending on network conditions. Users are advised that withdrawal requests submitted before the suspension will be processed sequentially, which could cause slight delays in account reflection. Bithumb stressed that the pause aims to ensure a smooth and secure transition during the network enhancement.

Filecoin’s Exchange History Highlights Volatility

Bithumb’s temporary halt follows a pattern of selective FIL exchange activity globally. Nearly a year ago, Binance delisted Filecoin trading pairs citing user protection and market quality concerns. Conversely, South Korea’s Upbit listed FIL in April, pairing it with the Korean won (KRW), which led to a 7% surge in FIL’s price at the time. Despite Bithumb’s current suspension, the market has remained resilient, with FIL trading at $2.55, reflecting a 1.76% increase in the last 24 hours.

Looking Ahead for Filecoin Traders

Bithumb reassures its users that deposit and withdrawal services will resume as soon as network stability is verified. Traders are encouraged to monitor official announcements to avoid delays and plan their transactions around the scheduled upgrade. This temporary suspension is a proactive measure to maintain reliability rather than a reflection of market performance.

The temporary pause of FIL operations on Bithumb underscores the importance of network upgrades in maintaining security and stability. While such suspensions may cause minor delays, historical data suggests that the Filecoin market continues to perform steadily, reassuring traders of the coin’s resilience amid technical adjustments.
