Shiba Inu has provided fresh insights into the upcoming migration of its LEASH token, introducing a secure and carefully reviewed roadmap for LEASH V2. Designed to protect holders and liquidity providers, this phased migration aims to streamline the transition without causing supply dilution.

Safe, Audited Migration Process

According to Shiba Inu developer Kaal Dhairya, LEASH V2 will follow a fixed ratio migration model, allowing LEASH V1 holders to move seamlessly into the new token. The supply for V2 is pre-created and stored in a multisig wallet, meaning no additional tokens can be minted during migration. Any leftover tokens after the process may be burned to reduce the total supply.

Security has been prioritized. Blockchain cybersecurity firm Hexens audited the V2 contract and migration workflow, with the report to be released alongside the mainnet launch. LEASH V2 also integrates features like ERC20Permit and ERC20Burnable, simplifying contract auditing and long-term maintenance.

Phased Rollout for Holders and Liquidity Providers

The migration will unfold in three stages:

  1. Phase One – Direct migration for self-custody holders and participation in staking programs such as xLEASH, veLEASH, and Metaverse Lock. Liquidity providers on Uniswap V2 and ShibaSwap V1 are also included.
  2. Phase Two – Migration for liquidity providers on Uniswap V3 and ShibaSwap V2, leveraging historical liquidity data and proof-of-withdrawal verification.
  3. Phase Three – Cross-chain migration, ensuring L1 and L2 users exchange native tokens at a one-to-one ratio, supporting upcoming interoperability.

Dhairya emphasized fairness for long-term holders while ensuring liquidity providers are properly accounted for through targeted snapshots.

Looking Ahead: Cross-Chain Expansion

Beyond LEASH V2, Shiba Inu is exploring cross-chain expansion to networks like Base and Solana while keeping SHIB Ethereum-native. The project will leverage Chainlink’s CCIP framework for improved interoperability. Meanwhile, Shibarium, Shiba Inu’s Layer 2 solution, is seeing higher transaction volumes and an upcoming upgrade to assist validators and developers building on the network.

As the phased migration begins, holders are advised to rely solely on official Shiba Inu channels for guidance and updates. Patience is key as the project ensures a secure, transparent, and fair migration for all participants.
