Key Takeaways:

  • Ripple CTO plans a high-performance personal XRPL server to aid network reliability.
  • XRPL processed 70M+ transactions in July and added 1M+ new users in 2025.
  • Cross-chain and DeFi growth on XRPL surges with new sidechain and smart contract activity.

Ripple’s Chief Technology Officer David Schwartz has unveiled a personal initiative to enhance the XRP Ledger (XRPL) infrastructure, coinciding with a major surge in on-chain activity. July saw the XRPL process over 70 million transactions, reflecting rising developer and user interest amid the launch of new features and cross-chain integrations.

David Schwartz Plans Dedicated XRPL Server

In a recent announcement on X (formerly Twitter), Schwartz shared his plans to deploy a high-performance XRPL server using top-tier hardware and a robust network setup. The server will include an AMD 9950X CPU, 256GB RAM, and NVMe storage, housed in a New York data center with a 10GB unmetered connection.

Although the initiative is personal and not an official Ripple project, Schwartz aims to support the network by offering reserved slots for UNL validators and key XRPL services. He clarified that no single server should become a central point of reliance, in line with XRPL’s decentralized ethos.

XRPL Sees Record Growth in Transactions and Wallets

According to Dune Analytics, XRPL processed over 70 million transactions in July, pushing its total transaction count to approximately 3.83 billion. The ledger continues to onboard users at pace, averaging 3,000 new wallets daily and surpassing 7 million total accounts.

XRPL’s decentralized exchange (DEX) activity also saw strong momentum, with DEX volume rising 21% to 465 million XRP and AMM volume increasing 17% to 408 million XRP. These indicators point to growing adoption of XRPL’s native DeFi tools.

Cross-Chain Activity and Sidechain Development Surge

Cross-chain integrations are expanding, with over $165 million in assets bridged via Axelar to EVM-compatible networks. Meanwhile, the recently launched EVM-compatible XRPL sidechain has attracted rapid developer adoption, with over 1,400 smart contracts deployed in its first week.

Brazilian stablecoin BBRL, issued on XRPL, also exceeded $4.2 million in circulation, becoming the second-largest BRL stablecoin. These milestones highlight XRPL’s appeal as a fast, low-cost alternative for global settlements and cross-chain applications.

With David Schwartz’s infrastructure initiative and XRPL’s accelerating ecosystem growth, the ledger is positioning itself as a scalable, developer-friendly blockchain. These advancements reinforce Ripple’s long-term vision of building a robust and decentralized financial network.
