- Kraken is expanding access to 7,000+ US stocks for eligible EEA customers.
- Investors can access US stocks, 700+ xStocks and 600 crypto assets through one account.
- The rollout highlights growing competition for regulated crypto and traditional investment services in Europe.
Kraken is widening access to US equities in Europe, giving eligible customers across the European Economic Area (EEA) a way to trade thousands of American stocks alongside cryptocurrencies and tokenized shares. The move marks another step in the exchange’s effort to bring traditional and digital assets into one regulated trading environment.
Kraken Adds More Than 7,000 US Stocks
According to Kraken’s August 18 announcement, eligible EEA customers can now access more than 7,000 US-listed stocks through the Kraken Pro app and website. The offering is being rolled out across EEA member countries after an initial launch in Germany, France and the Netherlands.
The expansion also gives investors access to more than 700 xStocks, Kraken’s tokenized equity products, as well as roughly 600 crypto assets. That combination allows users to manage exposure to traditional securities, tokenized versions of equities and digital currencies through a single account.
Kraken says its approach could simplify access to US markets for European investors who previously faced fragmented platforms, additional costs or more complicated trading arrangements.
Traditional Stocks and Tokenized Shares in One Account
A key feature of the rollout is the ability to view US-listed stocks and corresponding xStocks side by side. This gives investors different ways to seek exposure to the same underlying companies without having to transfer funds between separate platforms.
The service is being provided through Payward Europe Digital Solutions (CY), an authorized MiFID investment firm. Kraken says it will not charge commissions on US stock trades, although investors may still encounter costs such as spreads and foreign-exchange charges.
The development comes as tokenized equities gain traction. Kraken said xStocks has already surpassed $38 billion in cumulative transaction volume since its launch, highlighting growing interest in blockchain-based representations of traditional assets.
Competition Intensifies Across European Crypto Markets
Kraken’s expansion comes as major crypto platforms increase their focus on regulated financial services in Europe. Exchanges are seeking licenses and new products as the region develops a more structured framework for digital-asset businesses.
Coinbase, for example, has expanded its derivatives offering for professional investors in the UK after securing a MiFID license from the Financial Conduct Authority.
Kraken has also introduced additional security measures, including in-app call verification designed to help customers identify genuine support representatives and reduce exposure to crypto-related scams.
Kraken’s latest move reflects a broader convergence between traditional finance and cryptocurrency markets. By putting US stocks, tokenized equities and crypto assets under one roof, the exchange is positioning itself as a broader investment platform rather than a crypto-only venue.
For European investors, the main attraction will likely be convenience and wider market access. However, fees beyond commissions, currency conversion costs and the risks associated with both equities and digital assets remain important considerations.

As competition grows, Kraken’s ability to combine regulated stock trading with crypto services could become an increasingly important part of its strategy in Europe.
