Six New Entrants to the Top 20 List

Grayscale’s latest evaluation introduces six new assets, each aligned with its thematic focus:

  • Ethena (ENA): A stablecoin protocol offering USDe, a collateral-backed asset that allows users to profit from Bitcoin and Ether spot-futures arbitrage.
  • Virtual Protocol (VIRTUAL): Operating on the Base network, this platform enables the creation of tokenized AI agents capable of executing autonomous tasks.
  • Jupiter (JUP): The top decentralized exchange aggregator on Solana, boasting the highest total value locked (TVL) among Solana-based applications.
  • Jito (JTO): A Solana liquid staking protocol generating over $550 million in fees in 2024, underscoring its rapid adoption.
  • Grass (GRASS): A decentralized data network that incentivizes users to share unused bandwidth for AI training purposes.

Returning Favorites and Strategic Rotations

Grayscale continues to back longstanding themes, such as Ethereum scaling solutions, DePIN (Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Networks), and tokenization. Popular assets like Optimism, Chainlink, and Helium remain in the spotlight.

In contrast, Celo has been removed from the list. While still a significant player, Grayscale believes its updated selection provides stronger risk-adjusted returns heading into the new year.
