In a dramatic turn of events, blockchain investigator ZachXBT has cracked the case of the mysterious DJT Token, a cryptocurrency named after former US President Donald Trump. Arkham, a blockchain analytics platform, awarded ZachXBT a hefty $150,000 bounty for identifying Martin Shkreli, the controversial entrepreneur better known as “Pharma Bro,” as the token’s creator.
The DJT token ignited a frenzy earlier this week after a news report (later deemed unsubstantiated) by Pirate Wires suggested a direct link to the Trump camp. This rumor sent the token price skyrocketing over 300% on Tuesday. Shkreli, himself a convicted felon for securities fraud, further fueled the speculation by endorsing the unverified story and even challenging a crypto trader to a $100 million bet on the token’s legitimacy.
Arkham’s $150,000 bounty for uncovering the DJT creator’s identity attracted the attention of ZachXBT, a renowned figure in the crypto investigation space. Shortly after, ZachXBT revealed Shkreli had contacted him directly, claiming to have created the token with “Barron,” hinting at a potential connection to Donald Trump’s son, Barron Trump. However, no evidence to support Barron Trump’s involvement has surfaced so far. Finally, Shkreli himself came clean about his role as the mastermind behind DJT during a self-hosted online forum (X Spaces).

Shkreli gained notoriety in 2015 as CEO of Turing Pharmaceuticals when he infamously hiked the price of a life-saving drug by over 5,000%, sparking outrage and earning him the infamous “Pharma Bro” moniker. Sentenced to seven years in prison for securities fraud in 2017, Shkreli was released early in 2022. Despite his claims of imminent proof tying the Trump family to the DJT token, the Trump campaign has remained silent on the matter.
As of writing, the DJT token price has risen by over 20% in the past 24 hours, currently trading at $0.01549. The future of the token and the validity of Shkreli’s claims regarding Trump family involvement remain to be seen.
