- AERO surged roughly 19% as Aerodrome TVL climbed to $271.16 million and seven-day trading volume reached $663 million.
- Bullish derivatives positioning suggests traders are betting on further AERO gains, although rising leverage could increase downside risk.
- Aerodrome’s negative $6.78 million Q3 2026 earnings remain the biggest challenge to the token’s recovery story.
Aerodrome’s native token AERO jumped roughly 19% on August 25, putting it among the crypto market’s strongest daily performers as on-chain activity and derivatives positioning turned more bullish. The rally, however, comes with a major question: can stronger demand offset the protocol’s worsening earnings?
Recent data points to growing capital and user activity on Aerodrome, but the protocol’s financial performance remains a significant concern for investors assessing whether the AERO recovery has room to run.
Aerodrome TVL climbs as trading activity improves
Aerodrome’s total value locked (TVL) increased from $247.96 million on August 19 to $271.16 million six days later, according to DeFiLlama. The rise represents a meaningful expansion in capital committed to the protocol and provides a stronger foundation for the token’s recent move.
Trading activity has also picked up. Aerodrome recorded approximately $663 million in decentralized trading volume over seven days, while trading fees reached $2.53 million during the same period.
The combination of higher TVL and sustained trading activity suggests demand for Aerodrome’s decentralized exchange services is improving. Unlike a sharp one-day capital spike, the TVL increase was relatively measured, potentially indicating a more gradual recovery.
AERO derivatives show growing bullish positioning
Derivatives data provides another sign that traders are becoming more optimistic about AERO. CoinGlass showed the token’s perpetual funding rate at 0.0066%, meaning long-position traders were paying short-position holders to maintain their contracts.
The Long/Short Ratio also remained slightly above neutral at 1.035. Binance and OKX were among the exchanges showing bullish positioning.
That backdrop indicates traders are positioning for further gains. However, increased long exposure can also amplify downside moves if the rally loses momentum. A sudden reversal could force leveraged traders to reduce positions, adding pressure to AERO.
Weak earnings remain AERO’s biggest risk
Despite improving market activity, Aerodrome’s financial figures remain difficult to ignore. DeFiLlama reported Q3 2026 earnings of negative $6.78 million, marking the protocol’s largest quarterly loss since Q3 2025.
That disconnect creates a challenge for AERO. Rising usage and TVL can support a stronger market narrative, but persistent losses could make investors question whether the token’s valuation is justified.
At the same time, adoption is showing encouraging signs. Aerodrome added 2,334 new users, representing more than 72% of its 3,227 daily active users.

AERO’s 19% surge is backed by higher TVL, strong trading activity, bullish derivatives positioning and continued user growth. Yet Aerodrome’s negative earnings introduce a clear counterweight. For the rally to prove durable, investors may need to see improving protocol economics alongside the stronger activity.
