  • ZachXBT linked an 18-year-old suspect to nearly $19 million in alleged crypto thefts.
  • Investigators say a Discord screen-share helped trace wallets tied to stolen Bitcoin.
  • Federal prosecutors are expanding the case as more alleged conspirators emerge.

Blockchain investigator ZachXBT has publicly accused 18-year-old Dritan Kapllani Jr. of being tied to nearly $19 million in alleged cryptocurrency thefts carried out through social engineering schemes. The allegations, shared on social platform X, have sparked fresh debate about how online bragging and blockchain transparency continue to expose suspected crypto criminals.

According to ZachXBT, Kapllani allegedly flaunted stolen wealth online through luxury vehicles, Rolex watches, private jet trips, and stacks of cash. The investigator also claimed Kapllani appeared on a recorded call displaying a crypto wallet allegedly connected to stolen funds.

Discord Call Allegedly Revealed Millions in Crypto

A major part of the investigation centers on a Discord “band for band” call that reportedly took place on April 23. During the call, Kapllani allegedly screen-shared an Exodus wallet containing millions of dollars in cryptocurrency while attempting to impress another online threat actor.

ZachXBT claimed the wallet held roughly $3.68 million and was linked to funds originating from a major 185 BTC theft reported earlier in 2026. Investigators tracing the transactions say the wallet received approximately $5.3 million shortly after the theft before the funds were moved through several wallets, bridges, and exchange deposits in an apparent attempt to hide the trail.

The case highlights how blockchain records can preserve transaction histories even after funds are heavily shuffled across multiple platforms.

Federal Investigation Expands Beyond One Suspect

The situation escalated after federal prosecutors reportedly unsealed a criminal complaint against Trenton Johnson, who faces charges connected to the 185 BTC theft. Court filings allegedly refer to Kapllani as “Co-Conspirator 1,” though no formal charges against him have been announced so far.

ZachXBT further alleged that another wallet tied to Kapllani was connected to at least $5.85 million in separate thefts dating back to 2025. Combined with the 2026 case, the alleged exposure approaches $19 million.

Meanwhile, meme coin influencer yelotree has reportedly been accused of helping launder stolen funds through a Miami-based rental car operation.

Social Engineering Remains a Major Crypto Threat

Investigators believe the attacks relied primarily on manipulation tactics rather than technical exploits. The schemes allegedly included phishing attempts, fake customer support interactions, impersonation methods, and fraudulent wallet requests targeting unsuspecting crypto holders.

The case has drawn comparisons to previous crypto crime investigations where suspects allegedly exposed themselves through social media posts and public displays of wealth.

Kapllani has not publicly responded to the accusations, and no arrest or official charges against him have been confirmed at the time of writing.

The investigation underscores a growing reality within the crypto industry: while digital assets can move quickly across borders and platforms, blockchain transactions often leave permanent trails behind. As authorities and on-chain investigators continue tracking suspicious activity, public displays of wealth may increasingly become evidence rather than status symbols.
