XION and Bybit’s BGA initiative will fund the Global Impact Accelerator and select promising projects that meet SDG-aligned criteria to join the accelerator
Wednesday, 5th Nov: XION, the verification infrastructure technology company, has launched a joint fund, the Global Impact Accelerator (GIA), with the Blockchain for Good Alliance (BGA). The aim is to fund and mentor several selected startups whose projects align with the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
XION and the BGA announced the first $100,000 deployment for the GIA joint fund in Copenhagen at the Global Impact Forum hosted by the BGA and the United Nations Development Program’s (UNDP) AltFinLab. The fund’s mission is to finance and incubate a select cohort of projects based on strict criteria, specifically those that leverage blockchain for social good while utilizing XION’s verification infrastructure.
“The Blockchain for Good initiative was launched to bring about social good through blockchain technology, and we look forward to advancing that mission further with the launch of the Global Impact Accelerator,” said Bybit Co-CEO Helen Liu.
The GIA builds on the recent BGA-XION partnership. It highlights XION’s growing collaboration with governments and institutions to drive real-world impact by leveraging its verification infrastructure for social good.
“The launch of the Global Impact Accelerator brings us one step closer to realizing blockchain’s potential for measurable social progress. By combining XION’s unique verification infrastructure with the Blockchain for Good Alliance’s mission-driven network, we look forward to empowering innovators who can both prove and scale their impact,” added Freya Chen, Executive Director of the BGA.
XION, which is also focused on involving strategic venture capital investors and mentors for the accelerator, said that “all projects accepted into the GIA will be scrutinized to ensure SDG mission alignment, potential impact, and long-term business sustainability.” XION and BGA will also work with HackQuest to vet the projects to ensure their team’s ability to execute their plans as they relate to scalability, sustainability, and potential to contribute to the global good.
The founder of XION, Anthony Anzalone, emphasised that the team will collaborate closely with the BGA and its extensive network of governments, NGOs, and public organisations, leveraging technical infrastructure to solve real-world issues through verifiable data. “Trust is paramount in government programs. For XION, verification is fundamental for digital infrastructure in a world where trust is the scarcest resource,” he said.
“BGA and XION will offer a model for proof-based public infrastructure that governments, NGOs, and citizens can rely on without needing technical fluency or institutional gatekeepers,” said Anzalone. “We will provide funding, technical support, mentorship and VC access to accelerate world-changing programs built on verifiable truth.”
