ObjectID has officially filed a patent for a decentralized product identity system that could reshape global supply chains and authentication protocols. Built on the IOTA network, the system offers a tamper-proof, scalable, and fully automated alternative to traditional centralized databases, eliminating the need for storing sensitive user data.
Digital Identity Without Databases
At the heart of ObjectID’s innovation is its complete departure from conventional data storage. Unlike legacy systems that rely on user accounts and sensitive databases, ObjectID’s platform doesn’t store personal information at all. This approach eliminates common attack vectors for hackers, rendering many cybersecurity threats irrelevant. It also bypasses strict compliance hurdles like GDPR and NIS2, significantly reducing operational costs.
“Our system is inherently secure because there’s nothing to steal,” said ObjectID founder Stefano Della Valle, adding that the patent is a critical step toward redefining how digital authentication is handled globally.

Built for Scale on IOTA
ObjectID’s patent leverages the IOTA network, known for its ability to process over 50,000 transactions per second without fees. This enables seamless scaling, whether the platform supports a few clients or global industry giants. Because it sidesteps the bottlenecks of centralized architecture, ObjectID can maintain performance and affordability as usage grows.
Crucially, product identities are no longer tied to physical labels that can be forged. Instead, they are represented as self-verifying digital records on the IOTA ledger—capturing every detail from manufacturing origins to current custody. These identities are issued by smart contracts, not passwords, and confirmed through domain-based brand verification, creating an unforgeable and trustless certification authority.
Industrial-Scale Deployment Underway
ObjectID also announced a strategic partnership with Australian firm DLT. Green to bring its solution to the industrial sector. From machines to components, the joint effort aims to deliver zero-overhead, real-time traceability across complex infrastructure networks.
“Centralization is the root of vulnerability,” Della Valle said, emphasizing the broader vision behind ObjectID’s technology. With this patent, the company sets a new standard for trust, transparency, and scalability in decentralized ecosystems.
