  • Bybit secured a MiCAR license, enabling EU-wide crypto operations and expansion.
  • The exchange turned a $1.5B hack into a security benchmark with audits and new safeguards.
  • New 2025 products include tokenized stocks, AI-driven TradeGPT, and integrated DeFi services.

Bybit, one of the world’s leading cryptocurrency exchanges, outlined its ambitious roadmap for the remainder of 2025 in its “Keynote with Ben” event, themed “Rewrite Your Success, Reshape the Standard.” The event highlighted Bybit’s ability to overcome a major security crisis, secure new regulatory licenses, and push deeper into Web3 innovation.

Turning Crisis Into a Security Benchmark

Bybit CEO Ben Zhou addressed the $1.5 billion Lazarus Group hack from February 2025, clarifying that the breach occurred at a third-party custodian, not on Bybit’s systems. Even so, the exchange responded with real-time transparency, publishing onchain evidence, launching nine independent audits, and implementing 50+ new security measures.

To further reassure users, Bybit rolled out a bounty program rewarding fund recoveries, froze 5% of stolen assets, and traced nearly a third of the hacked funds. The platform’s wallet systems have since passed multiple audits, bolstering confidence in its infrastructure.

Global Expansion Through Regulation

A centerpiece of the keynote was Bybit’s regulatory progress. The exchange secured a MiCAR license, granting authorization to operate across all 29 EU member states. This milestone enables the launch of Bybit.eu, with fiat rails, local onboarding, and plans for MiFID-licensed derivatives within six months.

Bybit is also expanding its physical presence in Europe, with offices in Poland, Portugal, and Spain, alongside upcoming hubs in France, Germany, Italy, and Romania. Beyond Europe, Bybit gained in-principle approval from Abu Dhabi’s regulator (SCA) and FIU registration in India, signaling a commitment to compliance-driven growth.

Web3 and Product Innovation

The keynote showcased Bybit’s evolving role in Web3 and decentralized finance. Executives announced advisory roles in Mantle 2.0, an upgrade aimed at bridging institutional infrastructure with DeFi.

Among product rollouts, head of Web3 Emily Bao introduced:

  • bbSOL – a Solana liquid staking token with leverage staking features.
  • TradeGPT – AI-driven trading insights based on onchain, sentiment, and social data.
  • Megadrop – a token launch format combining fixed-term savings with pre-listing rewards.
  • Tokenized Stocks – enabling trading of Apple, Tesla, Coinbase, and more as spot pairs.
  • On-Chain Bybit – integrating DeFi services like yield and liquidity mining directly into exchange accounts.

Payments, Liquidity, and Wealth Management

On the payments side, the Bybit Card surpassed 2 million users, with transaction volume up 68% year-on-year. Bybit Pay’s QR code integrations in Asia and LATAM drove a 719% usage surge, supported by Visa and Mastercard partnerships.

For institutional clients, Bybit’s Private Wealth arm now oversees $150M in assets, while the updated Bybit App 5.0 introduces Lite mode, new customization features, and a streamlined Earn section.

In trading, Bybit expanded its Rapid Price Improvement (RPI) feature to perpetuals, boosting liquidity by 150%, and launched TradFi, a multi-asset hub for gold, indices, forex, and stock CFDs.

Social Responsibility and Closing Vision

Zhou concluded with Bybit’s Blockchain for Good Alliance, upcoming UN collaborations, and global initiatives such as the Crypto Content Creator Campus in Lisbon. His message tied back to accessibility:

“From first-time users to institutional investors, crypto should be usable, secure and powerful enough for everyone. Together, we’re rewriting the rules.”

Bybit’s 2025 keynote underscored resilience after crisis, regulatory breakthroughs, and innovation spanning DeFi, tokenized assets, and payments. With 74 million users and rapid expansion into regulated markets, Bybit is positioning itself not only as a top-tier exchange but as a comprehensive crypto ecosystem bridging retail, institutional, and Web3 finance.
